Tim Tszyu vs Terrell Gausha: Tim to Clinch the Title

On March 27, early in the morning, Moscow time, Tim Tszyu will fight Terrell Gausha in the United States. This is the first fight of Kostya Tszyu's son outside of Australia.

WBO Asia Pacific and WBO Global bantamweight titleholder Tim Tszyu explained what fight to expect in case of his victory over Terrell Gausha.

I'm a mandatory challenger from the WBO. I'm not interested in others' plans. The titleholder can fight me to lose it. Or just give up the belt. My next fight will be for the championship belt. That's all I know. And then I'm going to defend my title.

This first fight in the United States is really very important. In Australia, he had already beaten everyone - twenty fights, twenty wins, fifteen knockouts. Who he will fight in the United States is not that important. Gausha is a pretty ordinary boxer, no stronger than his previous opponents, and this fight is just a formality before the title bout. 

I can't say that I feel any anxiety before Timofey's fight. Excitement - that's a better word. It is always with a boxer. Gausha is a smart, thinking fighter. He understands what he's doing in the ring. That's a trait not all boxers have.

Gausha just got trapped. There are a lot of such boxers. He has 22 fights, two defeats, with no strong enough opposition in his career. Nevertheless, among the achievements of the American we can mention his participation in the Olympics in 2012 and victory in the US Amateur Championship. By the way, he beat Caleb Plant. In professionals he fought once for the WBA (Super) title, but lost by decision.

Sure, we cannot consider this fight an easy walk, but it's also ridiculous to see the American as a serious contender for Tim. Yet, Tszyu, like a diplomat, still finds strengths in his opponent:

I'm curious to see what my opponent has for me. Gausha has everything he needs to win. He has great skills, quick hands, and a great range of punches. He's so good at the basics.

There's no point in reviewing and comparing the fighting skills of the fighters, because Tszyu is simply better in each of the components. There may be some truth in the fact that so far Tim has defeated boxera with almost no willpower, but neither is Gauscha any stronger than the very guys the Aussie has beaten. Prediction: W1.
