Jailton Almeida vs Derrick Lewis Prediction: No Second Round Here

UFC Fight Night 231 (UFC Sao Paulo) will take place in Brazil on the night of November 5th. The main event will feature a battle between two crazy knockouters - Jamal Almeida and Derrick Lewis. The fight will take place in the heavyweight division. Almeida is ranked ninth in the UFC heavyweight rankings, while Lewis is tenth.

Until 2021, Jailton Almeida performed in local Brazilian leagues in heavyweight and light heavyweight categories. In these promotions, he somehow failed twice, which, considering his recent confrontations in the UFC, seems something of a surprise.

His wins have come early - usually in the first round, less often in the second. He brought this habit to the strongest division, setting records. Almeida holds the UFC record for percentage of time in control (93.7%), percentage of time in the bottom position (0%), has only missed nine significant strikes in all of his UFC fights and only two in his last five fights, and several other records that are equally impressive.

In his most recent fight, Jailton Almeida scored a first-round submission win over Jairzinho Rozenstruik.

Even though Derrick Lewis can't do anything but knock people out with one punch, he's been at the top of the UFC for a while now and has even fought for the belt twice, both unsuccessfully.

When the Black Beast wins, it's by flash knockout, but the problem is that he's been losing just as fast lately. He's been finished by Tai Tuivasa, Sergei Pavlovic, and Sergey Spivak in the last two years.

But his last fight renewed hope in the hearts of the fans, as Lewis finished Marcos Rogerio de Lima within thirty seconds of the bout.

Suppose you roughly and arithmetically put the fighters' skills on different scales (as many experts do). In that case, you get an interesting picture - on the side of Derrick Lewis will be only a strong punch and excellent hand speed, and on the side of Almeida, without bothering, everything else. And this "else" is at such a high level - even higher than that of fighters tougher than Lewis) that the bookmakers' lines are not surprising at all.

But the same thing was said before Derrick's last bout, and it only took him half a minute to finish his opponent and tell everyone that it was too early to write him off.

Almeida is a simple man. Every time he just puts his opponent on the ground, he has no problem finishing or punching with a grand and pound. Everyone knows it, but no one has been able to find an antidote yet. And Derrick Lewis, who gets destroyed in wrestling by lighter guys, is not the one to discover it.
