Ilia Topuria is a 27-year-old Spanish-Georgian 27-year-old UFC welterweight division champion. He began his journey in martial arts with Greco-Roman wrestling, has a black belt in Brazilian jiu-jitsu, and has yet to suffer a single defeat in professional MMA (seven wins in the UFC).
Topuria became champion in February of this year, when he incomprehensibly just demolished Alex Volkanovski. On the other hand, there's nothing particularly surprising about that; the Georgian has won almost all of his victories early, and no opponent has yet been able to offer him anything meaningful.
Max Holloway
Max Holloway is an icon for many fans, he's been competing in the UFC since, scarily enough, 2012 and is still quite vivacious and entertaining. In 2019 Alexander Volkanovski appeared on his way, took away the belt of the champion and became his curse - three fights and three times Max failed (but frankly, one fight he took for sure, the judges messed up there, and one was very close - you could have given both here and there).
But be that as it may, Holloway hasn't lost to anyone else in the welterweight division in the last ten years except Volkanovski (the fight with Dustin Porier in 2019 was at lightweight).
Max is one of the most entertaining fighters in the entire league, and fights featuring him can be re-watched endlessly.
But even amidst all of that, his last fight with Dustin Gaige was stunning, especially the ending. We're sure you've seen it many times before.
Expert Betting Tips
For some reason, we believe Holloway. His experience, discipline and professionalism will make up for it. He won't break under the champion's pressure, just like he didn't in his last fight with Gagey. Especially since this fight means a lot to him - he's just one step away from reclaiming the belt.
Topuria took down Volkanovski, but taking Max down is an equally difficult task (the latter has never been knocked out before). And we can hardly imagine another plan other than a takedown. We don't expect the fight to end too quickly, and we think that Holloway's terrific footwork, long punches, and endless and arrhythmic explosions will get the better of him in the distance. We honestly can't remember when Ilia Topuria fought on the background of extreme fatigue. This time he will definitely not pass such a test.
