Diana Avsaragova vs Kyra Batara: No chance for the American

On March 13, the next Bellator League tournament will take place. In one of the preliminary rounds, Russian boxer Diana Avsaragova will take on US fighter Kyra Batara.

Avsaragova broke into the world of professional MMA and immediately won the hearts of all male martial arts fans. This is not some vulgar Paige VanZant, but a girl with looks that leave few people indifferent.

Things are going well in the cage too, but there are still questions and Diana’s skill level is not yet clear to the end. Her opposition has been extremely lacklustre, but four wins are four wins. What is disconcerting is her last fight, a split decision win over American Gulfin, whose record at the time was 0-1. But the records of her three previous opponents were 0-1, 0-1, 0-4.

Kyra Batara is by no means stronger than Avsaragova’s previous opponents (except more experienced), and she comes into the fight on brief notice. She has competed in the local American leagues and has compiled an 8-4 record, but is on a streak of three straight wins (two by submission, one by decision) in the Combate promotion.

Analysts offer odds of 1.22 for Diana Avsaragova’s win and 4.30 for Kyra Batara’s win. And they’re not wrong, the Russian is the real favourite. Where the organisers dug up Kyra, who has not fought for two years?
