Bryce Mitchell vs Dan Ige Prediction: Dull and Boring Bout

On the evening of September 24th, Moscow time, two Americans - Bryce Mitchell and Dan Ige - will meet in the co-main event of UFC Vegas 79. Bryce Mitchell is ranked tenth in the UFC's featherweight division, while Dan Ige is ranked twelfth.

Bryce Mitchell was a base wrestler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt on a roll - fifteen wins, including six in the UFC, until he ran into Ilia Topuria. The loss was frustrating because he was defeated at home by submission. After all, Bryce has won most of his victories by submission and is considered the best grappler in the division.

We love Dan Ige for how badass he is in the best sense of the word. He can take any fight after only a hint. But that's his problem, he misses a lot even though he's never been knocked out. He is also good at wrestling but not as good as his opponent. From 2020 to 2022, many believed in him. He was given really top opposition, but Dan didn't live up to the expectations - he lost four of five fights. Once the level of rivals dropped, everything fell into place, and Ige is now on a two-fight winning streak.

Wrestling Mitchell would be suicide for Ige, so he will provoke the fight standing. But that won't work with Bryce - sooner or later, one will end up on the back. And that's where Mitchell's time will come - we don't think he can finish Dan, but he'll bully him on the ground in all positions. Such wrestling is definitely Mitchell's domain.

Bryce has won his last three (and six of his previous seven) by decision, and things are unlikely to change here. Why take risks when you can take no risks is his philosophy.
