31.07.2022, 05:00
Number one and number two ranked UFC Flyweights fight in a rematch of their 2019 bout. Brandon Moreno and Kai Kara-France 2 promises to serve up a potential Fight of the Night at UFC 277 in Dallas, Texas. In their first match, Mexican Brandon Moreno secured a unanimous win over the New Zealander. The two strikers went at each other but as the match went on the Mexican’s body shots and great combination took a toll on the bleeding Kiwi who capitulated in the 3rd round with the Mexican winning on all the Judges’ cards.
Brandon Moreno vs Kai Kara-France Prediction
Starting in late 2020, Brandon Moreno has fought a trilogy with current Flyweight champion, Deiveson Figueiredo. In the first match at UFC 256, the fight ended in a draw. Moreno won the rematch at UFC 263 by dominating the striking and grappling fest to become the first Mexican-born UFC champion. He, however, lost the 3rd fight at the co-main event of UFC 270 in a unanimous decision to hand back the title to Deiveson Figueiredo.
A 4th fight was in the making before an injury to Figueiredo opened the door for Kara-France to stake a claim at a shot at the champion via this interim championship bout.
The New Zealander is an anti-grappler who is almost impossible to submit. A striker with a powerful punch, he has developed his grappling skills since the first fight against Moreno. He still packs power in his punches and will hurt Moreno once more in this rematch as he did in the first match. However, Kara-France who trains with the likes of Israel Adesanya at City Kickboxing will be under pressure to win this match but not having experience at 5-rounds may be a huge factor.
Brandon Moreno has fought and defeated a champion and gone 5-rounds several times. He has improved tremendously since the first fight. His mentality, dedication and cardio will come in handy in this fight. Also, he is younger, has switched gyms and still got his massive jab. His experience as a headline act and knowledge of his opponent makes us confident that Moreno has the arsenal to win this bout, albeit by decision.
