San Jose vs Carolina Prediction: Another Failure of the Californian Team

San Jose was a hopeless underdog for the past few years, losing any chance of making the playoffs. In the offseason, the Sharks would have refused to change the roster again. But Erik Karlsson had such a crazy season the year before that he didn't want to stay in California, so he had to be traded to Pittsburgh. It does not reflect on their prospects in any way. Besides, the current season began with defeats of Vegas and Colorado - 1-4 and 1-2, respectively.

Carolina is more ambitious and powerful. They intended to fight for the Stanley Cup in the last years, but nothing of that kind happened. The team made it to the Eastern Conference finals in the previous playoffs but lost the series to Florida 0-4. Nevertheless, the core of the roster and coaching staff remained the same, and now the Reds and Blacks will make another attempt to get the trophy. Their debut was all alright. They beat Ottawa and Los Angeles - 5-3 and 6-5. But the day before, they suddenly lost to Anaheim, 3-6, failing in the first period - 0-3.

San Jose still waits for the first win this season. Conversely, Carolina has a bigger goal: to win the Stanley Cup. After two victories, Rod Brind'Amour's charges were embarrassed by a 6-3 loss. They have traditionally played well against the Sharks, winning the last three H2H meetings. 

Carolina is getting good results by playing tough and defensive hockey. In the opening game, Rod Brind'Amour told his charges to loosen up and be more offensive. As a result, the Hurricanes scored and conceded 28 pucks (9.33 on average) in the first three games.
