Philadelphia vs San Jose Prediction: the Sharks are Struggling

Over the past couple of years, Philadelphia has suddenly become a hopeless NHL underdog, adrift and lacking any serious ambition. John Tortorella is the perfect specialist to lead such teams out of crisis, which is why he was invited to the post of head coach. As long as the mentor has not had time to quarrel with the players, the game of the Flyers leaves a surprisingly pleasant impression, and the results - even more so. In five meetings they suffered only one defeat, and that was in a hard-fought battle with the reigning champion Florida, 3-4. Now the Pennsylvanians lead the East in points lost. Fantastic!

San Jose had already made their chances of making the playoffs clear in the opening minutes of this season. But they don't have it! It's hard to imagine what would have to happen to David Quinn's team for them to suddenly improve and fight for a playoff spot. In their seven meetings so far, the Californians have suffered six losses. The only other victory came over the former club of their coach, the Rangers, 3-2, in overtime. Their roster isn't all bad, but they can't produce any decent results.

Curiously, David Quinn has only beaten his former team out of seven games, and he has nothing to do with the Flyers.

John Tortorella is an exceptionally pragmatic coach. This should be evident now as Philadelphia's roster is far from being among the strongest in the NHL. Nevertheless, his men have scored 17 goals (3.40 per game average) in five regular-season starts and have scored at least three times each time. San Jose has a serious defensive problem.
