Philadelphia vs Chicago Prediction: the Flyers are the Favorites

Philadelphia is having an impressive regular season. For the last couple of years, the Flyers have been hopeless outsiders in the NHL, and in the offseason, John Tortorella emerged as their head coach. From the very first games, the Pennsylvanians began to earn points, but it didn't last long as a severe slump started to set in. It seemed as if they would never recover. But now they are in great shape and playing at the top-club level. They claimed eight wins in the last ten games, losing only to Boston and Toronto 2-6 and 0-6. So far, that's good enough for only 12th place in the Eastern Conference.

Chicago has a similar scenario, but their ambitions are even lower, and they are still undergoing a lineup rebuild. The Hawks had a string of wins before going on a losing streak. There was no doubt that Luke Richardson's men would continue to win only on the good days, but they had a whole holiday season in January. The team claimed four wins, losing only to Seattle in a 5-8 shootout. Even that spurt has yet to allow Chicago to improve, and they remain at the Western Conference bottom.

Nothing good has come from trips to Pennsylvania for Chicago, but the Wells Fargo Center is a fond memory for the Hawks. In mid-June 2010, they beat Philadelphia on the road in overtime in Game 6 of the final playoff series, winning the Stanley Cup. Since then, the team has come to this arena nine more times, suffering nine losses and scoring only one point in 2014. Now the Flyers are the favorites as well.

We should expect little activity. Recently, Philadelphia and Chicago have played unproductively, shooting in the previous nine meetings 42 goals (4.67 average per game). Only twice in this period they reached a total over (22%). In the upcoming battle, too, there is also little chance for a bright and goal-rich match.
