They did not start the season in the best way, but gradually began to gain momentum, and the defence, which minimised the number of mistakes, was particularly impressive. In mid-December, the Jets had a great stretch, scoring points in all their games for almost a month. Only by the end of January did the Canadiens fall into a crisis, losing to Boston 1:4, twice to Toronto 0:1 and 2:4, and the day before to Pittsburgh 0:3. Such a modest stretch has led to the fact that now Winnipeg is located only on the fifth line in the Western Conference standings.

Philadelphia and Winnipeg spend a very good by their standards regular championship, sitting in the playoff zone, but to the head-to-head confrontation both teams approached in bad shape. The Flyers have four consecutive home losses, all in regulation time, while the Jets have lost in four consecutive games. At the same time, the Canadian team is doing better on the road, so they are in the top-5 of the Western Conference standings, while the Pennsylvanians are on the very edge of the Cup Final Eight.

Do not expect that the upcoming confrontation will please us with a goal feast. We have already noted that both teams are now in poor form, and therefore they clearly lack the courage to show their best hockey. In addition, in five previous head-to-head meetings Philadelphia and Winnipeg have scored 22 pucks (4.40 average per game).
