The Islanders continues to be a participant of the fierce battle for the last cup places. By the end of January, the results had gone downhill, but as it turned out, it was just the calm before the storm, as they managed to put together an 18-match point streak that included 16 wins and two losses outside of regulation time. Obviously, they overworked themselves during this period, so they went on to lose three straight, but the day before they were stronger than St. Louis, 6:3, which allowed them to maintain sixth place in the Western Conference standings.

Islanders and Nashville at the finish of the regular season continue to fight for the playoffs. The Predators' position looks much more comfortable, but they don't quit playing and continue to collect points to get the highest seeding in the cup battles. The Islanders are located on the very edge of the top-8 of the Eastern Conference and vitally need points, but to get them in the upcoming confrontation will be extremely difficult. The fact is that the history of head-to-head meetings is in favor of the Yellow and Blue, having won the last ten meetings in a row.

Nashville was not characterized by too open and spectacular hockey, but at the finish line suddenly began to play cheerfully and cheerfully, and therefore the performance has gone up sharply.
