The record-breaking win came against Montreal when Evan Bouchard scored the game-winning goal in overtime for a 2:1 victory. Columbus can only dream of such winning streaks, but bad stretches in their performance are unremarkable. The Jackets have started to string together some points since then, but it hasn't been enough to close the gap that has formed between them and the Cup Eight. In the last five meetings, Pascal Vincent's men have only beaten Vancouver 4:3, losing to Minnesota 3:4, Winnipeg 5:0, Seattle 4:7, and the day before to New Jersey 4:1. All this allows Columbus to be only on the 15th place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Columbus has been an uncomfortable opponent for Edmonton lately, as the Americans have won all three meetings between the two teams. The upcoming game is the best opportunity for the Oilers to respond to their attacker. It's all about the teams being in very different places. Chris Nobloch's men are on their best run in club history, winning their last 13 games. The Jackets are in much worse shape, losing four of their last five and looking weak on the road. 

Even though Edmonton and Columbus are very different opponents at the moment, expecting a goal performance from this confrontation is not worth it. It's all about the fact that the Oilers have put together such a long winning streak with the help of excellent defense. In their last 11 meetings, the Oilers have allowed just 16 goals (1.45 per game), a phenomenal scoring average by NHL standards, and in all 11 of those contests, Edmonton has allowed less than two goals.
