Chicago Blackhawks vs Colorado Avalanche Prediction: Don’t expect many pucks

Chicago continues to quietly finish the current regular season, not paying attention to the results. Obviously, the Hawks do not solve global tournament problems, and the only goal for the remainder of the season is to gain experience for young hockey players who will carry the team on their shoulders in the foreseeable future. They still have plenty of injured players, without whom Luke Richardson's wards can't show their best play. In the last 13 meetings, they settled for just one win over Ottawa - 3:2 and lost 12 more times. Chicago is in last place in the Western Conference standings.

Colorado is a much more mature, skilled, and experienced team, the core of which won the Stanley Cup two years ago and now clearly intends to repeat this great achievement. Like a top club in the league, they're slowly starting to find themselves, so they're clearly going to be in optimal condition for the playoffs. The team also has a lot of personnel losses, as Valeri Nichushkin is still unavailable for official games, and Pavel Franzouz and Gabriel Landeskog haven't even made their debuts yet this season. Nevertheless, Denver has won four times in their last seven games, solidifying themselves in fourth place in the Western Conference.

Chicago and Colorado are opponents of such different levels that it's even kind of naive to compare them. The Hawks are hopeless outsiders of the Western Conference, having lost in 12 of the last 13 battles, which in itself speaks volumes about their current form. The Avalanche are in a much better situation, ranked in the top four while showing some very solid hockey. At the end of the regular season, they will obviously try to climb higher in the standings to get a more comfortable seeding in the cup battles, and therefore, Denver must cope with such weak opponents.

Colorado is one of the most colorful and spectacular teams in the league, but in the rivalry with Chicago, Denver seems to forget about it and, therefore, plays very pragmatically and on the result. In the previous four head-to-head meetings, the rivals scored only 19 goals (4.75 per game on average), which is very modest by NHL standards. The Hawks looked especially weak on offense, scoring exactly six goals (1.50 average per game).
