Anaheim vs Toronto Prediction: the Ducks are Hopeless

For Anaheim, the current season has been highly disappointing. Last season the Ducks at least got off to a good start and were close to the playoffs for a while. But now, they began to fall apart right away. In their opening game, the Californians beat Seattle 5:4 in overtime, but they only earned one point in the next seven games, a 1-2 shootout loss to Boston, and six straight losses in the remaining six games. Such poor results leave Anaheim in last place in the Western standings.

Toronto could have been more impressive, too. Everyone knows about the Maple Leafs' anomalous problems in the playoffs, where they can't get past the first round of the Stanley Cup for almost two decades. Still, they usually perform well in the regular championships. Now they can only boast of results. Sheldon Keefe's team has suffered five defeats and four wins in their nine meetings. In their last three games, they have lost to Vegas 1:3, San Jose 3:4, and Los Angeles 2:4, dropping to 14th place in the East standings.

• Anaheim has conceded at least four goals in the last three games.
• Anaheim scored six (1.20 goals per game average) in the last five games.

Anaheim and Toronto approach their head-to-head rivalry in poor form. The Maple Leafs' difficulties are local, as their ambition and skill allow them to claim big goals, while the Ducks' crisis is long-standing, and they can't get out of it. Seven losses in a row to the Californians is a sign of hopelessness, so they are not the favorites either.

Toronto, in this season, although they can not boast of good results, their attack is okay. Moreover, Anaheim is in real trouble with its defense, which has already conceded 36 pucks (4.50 average per game) in eight games, and the Maple Leafs have hit the Ducks 21 times (4.20 average per game) in the last five face-offs.
