Canada had tremendous performance problems in the first half of the last decade when they failed to reach even the semifinals at five consecutive World Championships, but they have since worked on their mistakes. In the last eight tournaments, the Maple Leafs have made it to the semifinals without fail, and on seven occasions they have made it to the title game, with four gold medals and three more silver medals. Impressive! The Red-Blacks have every chance of reaching the 2024 World Cup as well, as they did not lose a single game in the group stage of the competition and therefore deservedly finished in first place in the Group A standings.
Slovakia
The Slovakian national team is a mid-table side in the elite world division, but in 2022 they forced a change in attitude. It's all about the fact that they sensationally won bronze medals at the 2022 Olympics to start with, and then reached the quarter-finals at the 2022 World Cup. The last edition of the planetary championship turned out much worse for them, they failed to make the play-offs and therefore were now determined to rehabilitate themselves. The Slovaks had a bad debut at the 2024 World Cup, losing to the Germans 4:6 from the start but then winning four in a row. Their last two games were defeats to Latvia and Sweden - 2:3 and 1:6, respectively - but that was enough for fourth place in Group B.
Expert Betting Tips
Canada is a finalist in seven of the last eight World Championships, so it's problematic to believe in such an early exit from the Maple Leafs. Of course, they are the unqualified favorites for the upcoming clash, plus they won all seven games already at the group stage of the tournament, and they are in even better shape for the elimination games. The head-to-head statistics are also in favor of the Red-Blacks, as they have won their last six consecutive head-to-head meetings by a combined score of 28-8. Now it will be hard for the Slovaks to avoid a crushing defeat.
