With Wrexham off the back of two successive promotion seasons, they will need to get another good campaign on Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney's watch. They picked up 88 points in the league last time around in League Two to finish second and end a 20-year absence from League One. Wrexham is getting ready for challenges in the third tier with new signings: Arthur Okonkwo, Callum Burton, Dan Scarr, Lewis Brunt, Sebastian Revan, and George Dobson.
Manager Phil Parkinson has been happy with the team's work in pre-season, having strung together an impressive set of draws against both Bournemouth and Chelsea out in the USA and Canada. They signed off their preparations with a more than decent 4-1 win over Vancouver Whitecaps before returning home to come out winners once again, this time over Fleetwood Town, 1-0. This really does spell some good omens for when they kick off their league campaign, hosting Wycombe.
Wrexham Predicted Lineup
Okonkwo, Cleworth, O'Connell, O'Connor, Barnett, Dobson, Cannon, Lee, McClean, Marriott, Dalby
Wycombe Wanderers form
The Chairboys have finished sixth, ninth and tenth in the last three years and will be hoping to make a big charge into the top half of the League One table this. They finished tenth last year but 40 points from their last 23 games made it an exciting second half of the campaign. They've made some new additions to their squad, which includes Nathan Bishop, Daniel Harvie, Alex Hartridge, Tyreeq Bakinson, Brody Peart, Daniel Udoh, and Jaiden Bartolo under the management of Matt Bloomfield. They will look to continue where they left off last time around with a seven-game unbeaten run.
The good thing is that despite not playing Wrexham since 2008, their recent record against them has been pretty decent.
Wycombe Wanderers Predicted Lineup
Bishop, Grimmer, Hartridge, Low, Harvie, Scowen, Butcher, Bakinson, McCleary, Sadlier, Kone
Wrexham vs Wycombe Wanderers Expert Tips
Wrexham will be without Paul Mullin, who had surgery to correct his lower-back and hamstring problem; Jacob Mendy and Steven Fletcher are also doubtful. Wrexham will field James McClean and Ryan Barnett but could hand debuts to new signings Hartridge, Bishop, Harvie and Bakinson. Despite Wrexham's eagerness to win, their first match in League One will likely be a share of spoils with a strong Wycombe side. Take a double chance on the away side.
