Vancouver Whitecaps vs Dallas FC Prediction: Home is a safer bet

Vancouver Whitecaps are on a mission for their first win of the new campaign and they welcome Dallas FC to the BC Place for round 3 of the MLS.

Vancouver Whitecaps have lost the opening 2 matches and are without a single point. Dallas however recovered from a first match defeat to win against LA Galaxy by a 3-1 score at home. 

Vancouver Whitecaps will hope they can finally give their fans something to cheer about, after failing to record a win in their last 2 matches on home soil.

Vancouver Whitecaps have lost 2 matches in a row and are without a point in the new season. They lost 2-1 to Real Salt Lake on opening day of the season and went on to lose by the same scoreline against San Jose Earthquakes in their last game. 

In their pre-season matches, they recorded 2 wins and 2 draws in all 4 matches, which is a good record but they have failed to translate that form into the new season. 

Against Real Salt Lake, Vancouver Whitecaps was first to open scoring in the 24th minute, through a Javain Brown strike. But the visitors came back strong in the second half, scoring a double in the 70th and 73rd minute. Vancouver Whitecaps had 55%, 7 shots on target and 10 corners. And against San Jose Earthquakes it was a similar affair. Vancouver Whitecaps opened the scoring again in the 17th minute. But they couldn't protect the lead as they fell behind after conceding 2 goals in the 68th and 77th minute. But this time, they had 40% possession, 2 shots on target and 6 corner kicks.

Dallas did their best to recover from a defeat in the season opener. They lost 1-0 to Minnesota and then won LA Galaxy 3-1 in their last match. Dallas played just one preseason, which they lost 2-0 against Houston Dynamo. 

In the opening match against Minnesota United, Mender Garcia scored the only goal in the 48th minute. Dallas however dominated possession by 62% but managed 1 shot on target all game with 9 corner kicks. 

Against LA Galaxy, Dallas turned up and won the game 3-1. Dejan Joveljic was first to score for LA Galaxy and Alan Velasco levelled in the 47th minute. And in the second half, Jesus Ferreira scored a double in the 56th and 64th minute to give Dallas a deserved win. Dallas had the lesser possession by 45%, 4 shots on target and 2 corner kicks.

Vancouver Whitecaps have a very sound record against Dallas at home. Vancouver Whitecaps might not have the results going for them but they are expected to return to form as the season progresses. Dallas have done a good job in their last match but I don't see them as a formidable team. I think the Vancouver Whitecaps have the advantage against Dallas who are yet to prove their latest win is a demonstration of their form.
