Freiburg are a wildly progressive team that has never been known to fight for the top places, but they are among the leaders of the German Bundesliga for the second year in a row. They finished sixth place a year ago, but now they sit third, just two points behind the leader. Furthermore, Christian Streich's charges are also performing excellently on the international stage. In their four meetings, Freiburg beat Qarabağ 2-1, Olympiacos 3-0, and Nantes twice - 2-0 and 4-0. All this lets them top the standings in Group G.
Olympiacos
Olympiacos are the Greek champion for the last three seasons, and they have often been outstanding in the international arena, but this year has been a disaster for them. In the local league, the Red and Whites are currently sitting in fourth place, already ten (!) points behind the leader after nine rounds. They are also in a very poor position in the Europa League. With great difficulty, they reached the tournament's group stage, only to lose in their three starting games to Nantes, Freiburg, and Qarabağ with a combined score of 1-8. In the last game, they drew 0-0 with the Azerbaijanis, still sitting in last place in the quartet.
Expert Betting Tips
Freiburg and Olympiacos have very different sides in the Europa League this season. While the Germans are in great form, riding high and winning every tournament game, the Greeks look desperate in all their games and have taken just one point from four rounds. Currently, the opponents are on the opposite poles of the table in Group G, and the lack of tournament motivation should not prevent the Black and Whites from getting another three easy points. We'll wager on Freiburg's victory with a handicap (-1.5) at odds of around 2.28.
In the current Europa League competition, Freiburg not only beat everyone in a row but also concede very few goals. In four games, they have only allowed their opponents to hit the ball once (0.25 goals per game on average), and they did so in the very first contest, after which the Germans conceded three straight goals. Olympiacos have the worst attack in the tournament, scoring only one goal, so the best option for the prediction is Olympiacos' Total Under 0.5 goals for 1.90. Also, it is worth betting on Michael Gregoritsch's goal for 2.10.
