On Thursday 20th June 2024 at 16:00 (GMT+3) at Fußball Arena München, Slovenia will play Serbia in a match between teams that haven't won yet in the UEFA European Championship group round. Slovenia drew 1-1 with Denmark on June 16 to earn a point in their first Euro 2024 group round encounter. The only player to score in the draw was Erik Janza. In their past seven games across all competitions, they have not lost. Serbia's initial Euro 2024 group stage match against England ended in a 1-0 loss at Arena Auf Schalke on June 16. In 2024, they had two victories, 0 draws, and 3 defeats.

Serbia has zero points, putting them in fourth place in the group, whereas Slovenia is in third with one point. With three points, England leads the group. Denmark trails by a single point.

In June 2022, the teams met in Stadion Stožice for a UEFA Nations League League B match, which ended in a 2-2 tie. Serbia is still searching for their first goal for the 2024 European Championship. In all competitions, Slovenia has scored in 13 successive games. Since their match against Finland in June 2023 during the European Championship Qualifiers, they have not been eliminated.

Slovenia has won three and drawn three of its past six games across all competitions. During that time, the Slovenian team won four of the six games and gave up five goals. While their opponents scored twice in the first forty-five minutes, they had four goals in the first half. In their last six games, the Serbian team has won two, drawn one, and lost three. In that span, the Serbian team scored seven goals and gave up nine, scoring first in three of the six games. Their opponents scored five goals before halftime, while they scored four goals in the first half.

Slovenia

Slovenia began their Euro 2024 Group C campaign last Sunday in Stuttgart with a 1-1 draw against Denmark. Slovenia is competing in their first European Championship since 2000 and its first big event since the 2010 World Cup. Christian Eriksen's well-worked goal gave the Danes the lead at the half, precisely 1,110 days after he had a heart episode during Euro 2020. But 13 minutes from time, Erik Janza's deflection goal beat Kasper Schmeichel to give Slovenia a much-needed comeback and equalizer.

After a match of two "very different" halves, both countries were compelled to share the spoils, and Slovenia's head coach Matjaz Kek thought it was a "fair" result. His team finished the match strongly. Slovenia, ranked 57th in the world by FIFA, has yet to win a game at the European Championship since becoming an independent nation. They had lost all three of their previous games at Euro 2000, except one draw against Serbia (who was then known as Yugoslavia).

Slovenia has won four of their previous five encounters with Serbia, but they have only won one of their previous seven international games across all competitions. Their most recent matchup with Serbia came in the UEFA Nations League in June 2022, where they drew 2-2, just seven days after losing 4-1 the previous month.

Serbia

This summer, Serbia is making its debut as an independent nation at the European Championship. However, they lost 1-0 to England in their opening Group C match and were unable to earn any points. Jude Bellingham's header put England ahead in the thirteenth minute, and the Three Lions had to absorb pressure for long stretches of time as Serbia steadily increased their lead and became more formidable in the second half.

Despite the fact that Serbia only managed to put one of their six shots on goal in the final third and ultimately lacked a cutting edge, manager Dragan Stojkovic was eager to commend his team's "bravery" and thought that they "did not deserve to lose".

Serbia has only won one of their last twelve European Championship games (D2 L9), including matches against Yugoslavia/Serbia and Montenegro. Their loss on matchday one has left them at the bottom of Group C, and they will need to win at least one of their remaining two group games to have any chance of making it to the knockout stages.

With four points from two Nations League games against Slovenia in 2022, Serbia should feel somewhat more confident going into Thursday's match. They will undoubtedly see this match as a must-win before playing Denmark in their last Group C match on June 25.

Expert Betting Tips

Despite the fact that both teams will be aiming for victory on Thursday, a closely contested match may be in store in Munich since six of the previous eight encounters between these two countries have ended in draws.

Star attackers from both countries are capable of causing havoc on their day, but it remains to be seen if their danger will be sufficient to propel their team to three vital points.
