Celtic vs Shakhtar Donetsk Prediction: Shakhtar won't lose in Glasgow

In the fifth round of the Champions League group stage, Celtic will face Shakhtar Donetsk. The first leg between the teams ended in a 1:1 draw, but despite the draw in the first leg, Celtic is the favorite to win due to the importance of the pitch.

After losing to Leipzig in the fourth leg of the Liga group stage, Celtic has played three matches at home and won them all by a combined score of 14:4. Scottish football isn't top-flight. Celtic is Group F underdogs ahead of the fifth leg of the competition, but despite their 75% defeat in the tournament, the bookmakers are predicting a win for Celtic on Tuesday. We refrain from making predictions in this regard; on the contrary, the opponents look more favorable in the pair, especially given the line-up for the game.

Let us start our review of Shakhtar Donetsk because they are used to playing away in recent years, so we predict a relaxed attitude of the visitors towards the Celtic's support in Glasgow. It is crucial for the Ukrainians, at least, not to lose in the north of the Isle of Britain because, in this case, the Moles are guaranteed to play one round in the European cup in the spring, although it is not yet clear which one. Also, with this scenario, Celtic is 100% out of the European competitions, which generally pushed the bookmakers to put this line. Shakhtar has suffered just one defeat in four games in the tournament, against Europe's strongest side Real Madrid - and by a score of 1:2.

In our opinion, bookmakers noticeably overestimate Celtic. The Scots are dangerous at their Celtic Park, but the Moles have not played any home games in recent years, and they are not playing in Ukraine this season. However, they technically play home games, so the guests can hardly be frightened by Celtic Park unless the future visitors are afraid of Santiago Bernabeu. We predict that Shakhtar won't lose in Glasgow, but we also doubt that the Moles will be able to bring back the coveted three points from Scotland.
