Turkey vs Montenegro: We expect lots of goals

Turkey got off to a flying start in World Cup 2022 qualifiers as they beat the Netherlands (4-2) and Norway (3-0) and split points with Latvia (3-3). They top the Group G table with seven points. However, the Turks failed at Euro 2020, losing all three matches by a combined score of 1-8 and failing to qualify from the group, finishing last.

Montenegro also made an excellent start to the 2022 World Cup qualifiers. The Montenegrins secured two wins in three games - 2-1 over Latvia and 4-1 over Gibraltar. They also lost to Norway (0-1) but sit in second place in the Group G standings with six points. The chances of qualifying are, of course, slim, but if Montenegro win, they will increase significantly.

Turkey, of course, have more quality players than Montenegro, but this team is not to be written off. They can at least score an own goal. After the disgrace at the European Championship, the Turks need to rehabilitate themselves, so they’ll be fully motivated to win. We think we’ll see at least three goals in this game.
