Villarreal vs Cadiz: No margin for error

Villarreal are over. Bring a new one. Or is it not over yet? Honestly, I don’t understand what happened to the Europa League finalist. But one thing is clear. If Villarreal don’t start winning now, they won’t start winning ever.

Villarreal are losing every other match. The team is in 13th place in the Primera, and that, of course, is out of the question. Or will the guys go to the Champions League again via the Europa League? Although, what about the Champions League... Villarreal are nowhere near the level they showed last season. It’s as if the team has been cursed.

Villarreal lost to Athletic last Saturday. It’s certainly no disgrace, but the boys gave up three points to a direct rival. However, they’ve already handed out those points for the year ahead. If Emery doesn’t start winning here and now, the season can safely be crossed off. The Yellow Submarine have no more margin for error.

There’s no point in seriously assessing Cadiz. The team is playing to survive. It’s not even about the standings, but with their bus football, there’s no other name for it. Maybe the team will somehow survive the endless draws and stay in the Primera, but the fight for a place in the elite is the maximum for the club.

Cadiz lost their last game to one of the weakest teams in La Liga. 0-2 against Alaves is very, very bad. The immediate question is if Alaves can beat Cadiz by two goals, why can’t Villarreal do the same in three days?

I’m expecting a solid win for Villarreal. I suggest playing with the usual negative handicap, although we may try some other options. For example, Villarreal will win in the first half and the match. I think the Yellow Submarine will break through and cheekily take the much-needed three points from the underdog. Good luck to everyone!
