More recently, they won on the road against São Tomé after a disappointing (2-2) tie in Sierra Leone. They are still third on the table and have earned five points in the last four games. 

Sierra Leone can still make it through if they get a win here and defeat Guinea in their final game.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been underperforming in recent games despite losing once over their previous four in this campaign. Nigeria head here following their slim (0-1) victory against Guinea Bissau. The Super Eagles were wasteful and almost split points. Even though they had twenty shots to the opponent's eight, they only managed to score from the penalty spot. They can’t continue playing like that, and if something doesn’t change, they might as well struggle here. 

Nigeria have won three of their last four games in this qualifier, scoring thirteen while conceding twice. They have scored the most goals in the round and are confident of securing the ticket to next year’s AFCON tournament.

Over their previous five meetings, Nigeria have won three and shared the spoils twice. Sierra Leone gave the Super Eagles a run for their money in the 2021 season when they drew (4-4) against Nigeria and shut out the Super Eagles in Sierra Leone with a (0-0) tie. The Super Eagles have not played to their potential in recent years, even though they boast one of the best talents in Europe.
