Sibenik vs Varazdin Prediction: Sibenik must win at home

Both teams are in disastrous shape, but the fact is that this game means a lot more to Sibenik. The home team are at the bottom of the table and they need a win on Friday night. Can Sibenik reach all three points? Four rounds are left in the SuperSport HNL and a dramatic battle for survival between Gorica and Sibenik is underway. Sibenik are currently one point behind and will try to fix that this Friday when they welcome Varazdin at stadium Subicevac. Although Dinamo secured their 24th league title with a draw in Split in the last round, there are still a lot of unresolved issues in the HNL. One of them is the question of staying in the league, and this especially concerns currently the last-placed team Sibenik, who opens the 33rd round of the SuperSport HNL on Friday starting at 19:00 against Varazdin.

Throughout the second half of the season, we talk about the instability of Sibenik, which has recently taken on colossal proportions. The change of ownership and numerous incoming and outgoing transfers at first suggested that the club from Subicevac would easily secure their stay, but with four defeats in the last five rounds, they suddenly found themselves at the bottom of the table, one point behind Gorica. No one expected such a turn, so Sibenik and the entire set of the club are calling for total mobilization for the vital clash against Varazdin. Despite the fact that Duje Cop and Ivica Vidovic have been suspended until further notice, the home team still have enough arsenal to get all three points in this very unpredictable duel with the team from the north of Croatia, which have also significantly weakened in form.

As the season moves on, Varazdin is getting more and more out of shape. Predictions that the hit of this season's edition of HNL will falter in form as time goes by have come true, and to make matters worse, they have not tasted the celebration for six consecutive rounds. At the same time, they are in a series of three defeats, while the last time they felt the sweetness of victory and all three points was in the middle of the third month against Gorica. The appearance in Europe next season due to a big drop in form has now become a faraway dream for Varazdin, who have lost momentum even though everything looked great a few months ago, especially after the return of Domagoj Drozdek from abroad. 

It seemed that Sibenik had their destiny under control and that they would manage to secure a place in the HNL for the next season as well. Sibenik aimed for a draw in every game, which they achieved many times. However, it turned out that this is not a recipe that guarantees survival, and Sibenik fell to the bottom of the table before the very end of the championship. Varazdin are safe, although they cannot be satisfied with the season. Varazdin won the last two games against Sibenik, which perhaps gives them a slight role as favorites, although the odds say otherwise. The fact is that this is a match that Sibenik must win, so the smartest thing to do is support them and play for the home team's victory.
