Mozambique vs Angola Prediction: Both sides will be pleased with a point

On Friday, Mozambique will kick off their COSAFA tournament jouney against Angola at the King Goodwill Zwelithini Stadium. Since it's the opening match, both sides will be very cautious at the back.

The Mambas haven't had a bite of the trophy before; the closest they have come was as a runner-up in the 2015 edition. Mozambique head into this tournament on the back of a win against the Benin Republic in the CAN Qualifiers games. Mozambique defeated the host nation, South Africa, in the quarter-finals last year; both teams played out a full-time draw as the Black Mambas secured the pass to the semifinals after a (4-5) penalty shootout win. Mozambique were knocked out in the semifinals by Namibia. Mozambique will go all out this season, and we hope to get to the final.

The Giant Sable Antelopes have won the COSAFA Cup three times, with silver and bronze. However, they were able to achieve that from 1998-2006. Since then, they have struggled in the competition and failed to reach the group stage last year. After winning their first two matches, Angola lost to Botswana, and they finished in third spot.

Angola is currently 114th on the FIFA global rankings and have won twice and lost once in their last three games in this tournament.

Both teams are yet to clash in this tournament; however, their last two meetings ended in a win and a draw for Angola. Mozambique performed well the previous season, unlike the visitors who were unable to make it through the group phase. Angola are very strong on paper, and their league is more advanced than Mozambique. Both teams will play more defensively here since it’s their opening game, and we expect them to settle for a halftime draw here for 1.89.

The visitors are the favorite to win here; bet on an away win in either half for 1.82.
