Manchester City have enjoyed an unprecedented era of success in the Premier League, with their latest title marking their sixth in seven seasons.
City racked up 91 points in the last campaign, turning back late charges of both Arsenal and Liverpool to confirm their status as the best team in England.
Although triumphed at domestic level, they fell short in Champions League - where they lost in quarter-finals against Real Madrid. Their season was brought to a poor close when they lost the FA Cup final to Manchester United on May 25.
Adding to the doubt, Guardiola has finally reached the final year of his contract, and the club faces a November hearing on 115 charges of breaching the Premier League's financial rules.
While everything that has gone wrong rocks them to their very core, Guardiola still has the pursuit of a fifth straight league title and his team's preparation for the Community Shield against Manchester United on August 10 as things to focus on.
In their latest pre-season warm-up match, City went down 4-3 to Celtic on July 24, with Haaland netting in typical fashion.
Manchester City Predicted Lineup
Ortega; Lewis, Mbete, Simpson-Pusey, Wilson-Esbrand; Phillips, Perrone; Bobb, McAtee, Grealish; Haaland
AC Milan form
Pre-season matches are planned to get AC Milan attuned to new manager Paulo Fonseca's style.
Fonseca took charge in June after Stefano Pioli was sacked in May following a poor run of just one win in eight. Pioli led Milan to their first title since 2010-11 in the 2021-22 season, but his spell ended as they finished 20 points behind champions Napoli last time around in 2022-23 and 19 points behind rivals Inter last season.
It will be a tough ask for Fonseca, who takes on his 12th managerial role and second in Italy following his spell at Roma from June 2019 to June 2021. Milan managed 76 goals last term, the second-best return in the league, but their 49 goals conceded ranked them 11th defensively.
So far, Fonseca's Milan has not won any of their two pre-season friendlies. With upcoming matches against Manchester City, Real Madrid, and Barcelona, perhaps Fonseca might have to wait a bit longer for his first victory as Milan's manager.
AC Milan Predicted Lineup
Sportiello; Calabria, Tomori, Jimenez, Florenzi; Bennacer, Pobega; Chukwueze, Liberali, Traore; Colombo
Manchester City vs AC Milan Expert Tips
Having played only one pre-season game, Manchester City showed that they already have attacking fluidity - scoring three goals in a 3-2 win over Celtic - and should have no fear about getting at AC Milan's backline. However, with some of City's star men missing their US tour, the Rossoneri could exploit their absence on Saturday.
