Mamelodi Sundowns vs Orlando Pirates Prediction: This hugely important game will end in favor of the hosts

Orlando Pirates will face off against Mamelodi Sundowns at the Mbombela Stadium on Saturday in their attempt to lift their tenth Nedbank Cup title. The Brazilians march here with a pretty decent season and would be poised to add this trophy to their trophy cabinet, having already secured the PSL hand AFL trophies. They have a stern test ahead of their arch-rival, Orlando Pirates, who will be keen to pick up their second title of the season. 

The Brazilians, who almost went the entire season unbeaten, suffered a defeat in their last game of the season. The PSL Champions have had a decent run in this campaign, having won their seventh consecutive South African Premier League title. 

The Brazilians are one of the best teams in the continent, and they’ll be keen to lift the Nedbank Cup tomorrow. They head here with a decent (1-2) victory over Stellenbosch in the semifinals. Mamelodi Sundowns have the best defense in the league, even though they were lucky to have advanced to this level. 

The Buccaneers successfully ended their season as the PSL runner-up and will play in the CAF Champions League next season. They head into the final after their solid performance against Chippa United away from home. Orlando Pirates are not a reliable team, as they have failed to win any of their last three games. 

The Buccaneers are the second most successful team in the history of this competition and are also the defending champions. We expect a more decent display from them tomorrow against a very strong opponent. 

Over their previous twenty meetings, Orlando Pirates have won four while the Brazilians have recorded eleven wins and five matches ending in a tie. It has been a close contest between both teams over their last two meetings. The Buccaneers have been the better team in recent matchups. 

Mamelodi Sundowns head here with a below-par performance against Cape Town City in the PSL as they lost their invincible record. They’ll be keen to make adjustments against a solid Pirates team who have also failed to win any of their last three matches.

It has always been a cagey game between both sides over their last four meetings, with not more than two goals scored in each game. Both teams have struggled in front of goal lately, but we think Mamelodi Sundowns won’t lose two trophies to the Buccaneers in a season.
