Malawi vs Burundi Prediction: Take Malawi to win this fixture

Bingu National Stadium will host the African Cup of Nations qualifying encounter between Malawi and Burundi in Group L. This will be the first competitive encounter between these sides. Which team wins this one?

Malawi will look to take advantage of home turf when they take on Burundi in this AFCON qualifying opener. Last time out, this team took on Equatorial Guinea, and they lost 1-0 on the road. In the meantime, Malawi's recent encounters ended with two wins, coming against Sao Tome and Principe and Liberia. However, their encounters against Zambia, Kenya, and Tunisia, along with other encounters, ended in defeats. In that run, Malawi scored five goals while conceding nine. 

Burundi will look to keep things running after avoiding defeat in each of their last three matches. Last time out, this team played Seychelles in the World Cup qualifier, and they secured a 1-3 win. In that encounter, Abdallah Sudi put them in the lead before Bienvenue Kanakimana scored a brace in the second half. However, Burundi also played to draws with Kenya and Botswana in other encounters, which will give them much confidence heading into this fixture despite being bookies' underdogs. 

This is definitely a tough game to predict, looking at the records of the two teams at this stage of the competition. At the moment, none of these teams have impressed, and they head into this game with a lot of responsibility to deliver. Yet, the home nation looks inviting, and I am trusting them to get the job done in an encounter that could end with goals.
