Salernitana vs Atalanta Prediction: Will the Pomegranates be able to take revenge for their defeat?

The first leg between Atalanta and Salernitana ended with an 8:2 victory for the Bergamo side. Will the Pomegranates be able to take revenge for this defeat?

The team has been without defeat since 26 February, with ten matches that included Napoli, Inter, AC Milan, and Fiorentina defeats. But the Pomegranates did not extend that miraculous streak in the previous round. Salernitana took on Empoli in the 63rd minute on the road before losing 0:2. Not long before the final whistle, Salerno scored as Krzysztof Piatek netted his 50th goal in the top five European leagues. But the team could not claim more (1:2). The Pomegranates are a comfortable eight points ahead of the relegation zone and could not even be considered relegation candidates.

In the previous round, the team fought to get into the top four at the end of the championship against Juventus. While playing at home, the team failed the tough test. Atalanta struggled to create chances against a well-defended side and conceded two unanswered goals in the second half. The 0:2 draw was only Atalanta's second defeat in the last eight rounds, but it was their most critical mark regarding their place in the table. The Bergamas are sixth, five points behind the top four. Now Atalanta needs to pick up points, but they will also have to wait for their rivals to drop out.

After losing to Juventus, Atalanta have what they call the final four at the end of the championship. Accordingly, Gian Piero Gasperini's side can only claim victory against the Salernitana. Otherwise, the Bergamo side will have little or no chance of progressing to the Champions League next season. Such strong motivation will likely help Atalanta achieve success. Paulo Sousa's side has had a great start, breaking away from the relegation zone, but, as the previous round's game against Empoli showed, they have still not recovered. It will not be a surprise if the team from Salerno loses almost all their matches in the last rounds. Accordingly, Gian Piero Gasperini's side can only claim victory against Salernitana in the previous games.
