Inter vs Empoli Prediction: Will Simone Inzaghi's team win again?

Inter won the Italian Super Cup after beating AC Milan and will now play a home game against Empoli in the national championship. Will Simone Inzaghi's team win again?

The Italian Super Cup match in Saudi Arabia last Wednesday was surprisingly easy for Inter. By the 21st minute, Simone Inzaghi's team distinguished themselves twice, thanks to Federico Dimarco's and Edin Dzeko's efforts. In the second half, it brought the game to victory and increased the lead to three goals - on 77 minutes Lautaro Martinez (3:0).

The Nerazzurri are also progressing in the domestic championship. Of the last ten matches, the Milan team has won eight and currently occupies a fourth place, behind the second line by only one point. They are now 10 points behind first place, but if they continue to perform well, that handicap might not be that big a deal.

The team hosted Sampdoria in the previous round and managed to win. The only goal at the beginning of the second half was scored by fullback Tyrone Ebouehi (1:0). Thus, the Blues have not yet lost in 2023 - before beating Sampdoria, they drew 1:1 with Udinese and 2:2 with Lazio. With coach Zanetti a defensive style brings a good result; Empoli did not go wrong. Following 18 games, the Blues sit 12th in the league table with a comfortable 13-point handicap from the relegation zone.

Last season Inter met with Empoli three times, twice in the league and once in the Italian Cup, and two of those matches were very effective. But then, Inter faced the attacking Empoli Andreazzolli, and now the Nerazzurri will face the defensive Empoli Zanetti. Therefore, we should not expect a lot of goals in the upcoming game. Moreover, Inter played a match for the Super Cup in the middle of the week, which took a lot of energy from the team. Most likely, the Black and Blue will play in energy-saving mode and get a working victory in the class, which Inter, especially at home, has repeatedly practiced in the current championship.
