Empoli vs Salernitana Prediction: The visitors are in better shape at the moment

On 8 May 2023, the 34th round match between Empoli and Salernitana will take place at the Carlo Castellani stadium.

Empoli is having a classic season. The club does not reach the top half of the table, but they do not have to fight for survival. The Blues had a poor start to the season in April, losing 0:1 to Cremonese, 0:3 to Inter and then 1:2 to Sassuolo and then ultimately losing their place near the relegation zone. For a start, they beat Monza 3:0, and recently they also managed to beat Sassuolo 3:0. Salernitana sits 14th in the Serie A standings.

Empoli and Salernitana are teams of a comparable level and therefore we have every right to expect a fair and close encounter. If the Blues have recently been playing uncompromisingly and, as a result, have not drawn for a long time, then the Pomegranates have drawn eight of their ten previous fixtures and won twice more. Now, Paulo Sousa's charges are unlikely to be without points, although they will be playing away. The visitors are in better shape now, they are more stable and productive, so Salernitana are likely to win.

Empoli and Salernitana are neighbours in the standings, but they no longer have any goals at the end of the championship. They still have a mathematical chance of finishing in the relegation zone, but in fact they won't be, so they can afford to play together in a lively and productive way. Moreover, in their last six head-to-head encounters, the opponents have scored 25 goals (4.17 goals per game average) against each other, which is a very high result. With this in mind, we would expect the total over 2.5, and you can bet on Boulaye Dia's goal.
