Ghana vs Sudan Prediction: The Black Stars of Ghana have a hurdle to overcome here

The Black Stars of Ghana will fight for their first win of the AFCON qualifying round when they face off against Sudan at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday. After defeat in his first game and stalemate against Niger, coach Otto Addo can’t afford to drop points against Sudan. There are quite a few absentees in the Black Stars camp, with ‪Thomas Partey‬, Osman Ibrahim‬, Joseph Painstil‬ and ‪Kingsley Schindler‬ out of their games.

The star-studded Black Stars nosedived in the recent FIFA Rankings as they moved six players down. Ghana head here with another below-par performance as they settled for a (1-1) share of the spoils against Niger. Even though they had more of the ball, they didn’t do anything meaningful with it. They were wasteful and were lucky to have come off with a point. 

The result means they have now played two games without a win over their last two qualifiers. 

Otto Addo's men have picked up eight points from their last five games. They have also failed to keep a clean sheet over their previous ten matches in all competitions.

James Apiah's men's four consecutive wins ended with a (2-1) loss against Angola on the road. Sudan thought they had secured themselves a point against a strong opponent when Mustafa Karshoum’s goal cancelled Angola’s lead until they conceded in the 81st minute. 

Sudan began their campaign with a slim (1-0) win over Niger at home. Abo Eisa scored after the break in a game they created three big chances. 

The Falcons of Jediane, who are ranked 120th in the world according to FIFA, ended their previous AFCON Qualifying round at the bottom of the log. Sudan secured six points from a possible eighteen, scoring three and conceding ten.

Over their previous seven meetings, Ghana have won six and Sudan winning once. The Black Stars of Ghana were once again below par against Niger, playing as a team and creating lots of chances but failing to make the best of them. They have now played two games in this group without a breakthrough. 

On the opposing end, Sudan have been at the top of their game until their recent defeat against Angola on the road. They’ll strive to avoid back-to-back losses but must do their best to achieve that against a more determined Ghana side. 

With the absence of some key players, we might see some new faces in the Ghana starting eleven. These changes might either bring a negative or positive impact on their performance. However, the Black Stars have won six of their last seven meetings against the guests and we think they’re the favourite to amass all the points. To be on the safe side, we believe the guests might likely get a goal here; bet on a home win or draw and over 1.5 goals for 1.65.

Ghana have failed to keep a clean sheet in ten consecutive games and we think Sudan might find the back of the net here; bet on BTTS for 3.75.
