Stadium: Volkswagen Arena (Wolfsburg)
The centerpiece of Saturday's Bundesliga seventh-round pool will take place in Wolfsburg, where the local team will take on Borussia Mönchengladbach. Borussia has not had the best start to the season, however, the Colts should definitely not be underestimated. Moreover, we still consider Borussia a contender for a place in the Champions League zone, and therefore a direct competitor of Wolfsburg.
Wolfsburg form
It’s important to know that Wolfsburg had a difficult match against Sevilla in the second round of the Champions League on Wednesday. The match ended in a 1-1 draw. Steffen put the Wolves ahead early in the second half but Rakitic converted a penalty to restore the status quo on minute 87. After their first-round match against Lille, Wolfsburg failed to beat a troublesome Eintracht. It is logical to assume that the Green and Whites will have problems in the upcoming game against Borussia. Moreover, after the international break, Wolfsburg won only one match out of five, against the newcomer to the German elite and the weakest team in the Bundesliga, Greuter Fürth.
Borussia Mönchengladbach form
Unlike the Wolves, Borussia is completely focused on domestic tournaments. The Colts took a long time to get going and finally did it, going by two wins in the last three rounds of the Bundesliga. Last weekend, the team had a narrow defeat over an extremely troublesome opponent, Dortmund. However, the BVB played without two leading players, Haaland and Reus, and it, of course, helped the Colts to win. Despite beating this team, Mönchengladbach is still only 11th in the Bundesliga standings, which means that Hütter's team needs points and goes to Wolfsburg for a positive result.
Injuries and suspensions
- Wolfsburg: Bartosz Bialek, Paulo Otavio, Xaver Schlager are out.
- Mönchengladbach: Mamadou Doucoure, Stefan Lainer, Marcus Thuram are out. Ramy Bensebaini is questionable.
Expert Betting Tips
Last season, Wolfsburg and Borussia played both games to a 1-1 and 0-0 draw. We would not be surprised if the upcoming meeting ended in a score split. Borussia is gradually gaining form, but the Colts are not as strong away as they are at home. And Wolfsburg, frankly, is not that exciting after the international break. As for the total, we should expect not so many goals to be scored in this game. Here are the betting options: X2 for 1.75, X for 3.49, TU (2.5) for 2.05.
