Hoffenheim vs Eintracht Frankfurt Prediction: BTTS or over 2.5 goals

Eintracht Frankfurt will try to turn around their dismal Bundesliga form when they play Hoffenheim at the Rhein-Neckar-Arena on Saturday after just securing their spot in the DFB-Pokal final. Due to a nine-game losing streak, Eintracht Frankfurt has dropped to ninth place in the Bundesliga standings, while Hoffenheim is now in 14th place, one point above the bottom three teams. 

The away team defeated VfB Stuttgart 3-2, and they'll want a similar outcome in this game. The hosts must win this weekend after losing to RB Leipzig by a score of 1-0 in their previous match.

The form of both teams makes it difficult to pick a winner although Eintracht Frankfurt has a slight advantage. BTTS or over 2.5 goals are expected. 

Hoffenheim had a severe mid-season downturn. From October to March, the team went 15 games without a victory, with eight straight losses capping off the run. This automatically led to the dismissal of Andre Breitenreiter. His replacement (Matarazzo) eventually put a stop to the rot with a few successful outcomes.

After winning three straight games against Hertha Berlin, Werder Bremen, and Schalke 04, Matarazzo's team extended their unbeaten run to four games with a remarkable 1-1 draw at Bayern Munich. However, Die Kraichgauer soon reverted to their old ways.

After losing to FC Koln, Hoffenheim's most recent match ended in a 1-0 loss at RB Leipzig, when they managed just one shot on goal at the Red Bull Arena, reigniting relegation concerns in Sinsheim.

Hoffenheim will need to make a rapid turnaround if they want to maintain their top-flight status for another season given that they are only one point and two points above the automatic drop zone, respectively.

For the match on Saturday, Hoffenheim will be missing the injured trio of Che, Larsen, and Vogt to knee, groin, and knee injuries, respectively. Kaderabek and Stiller may not feature due to injury.

Eintracht Frankfurt gave its supporters something to cheer about on Wednesday by defeating Stuttgart to go to the DFB-Pokal final against RB Leipzig after going nine league games without a victory. At the half, the Eagles were trailing 1-0, but they quickly recovered to win 3-2 at Mercedes-Benz Arena thanks to goals from Evan Ndicka, Daichi Kamada, and Randal Kolo Muani.

As the season draws to a close, Oliver Glasner will understandably be hoping that his team can translate their cup success onto the Bundesliga stage. After last weekend's 1-1 draw with Augsburg, Frankfurt has now gone nine league games without a victory.

Also noteworthy is the fact that Frankfurt has only been successful in winning two of their past 14 Bundesliga games, earning just five of a potential 27 points since overcoming Werder Bremen back in February. Eintracht Frankfurt has lost all nine of their away league games, with five of those losses coming in their last six away games. In addition, they have given up at least two goals in each of their last six away league games. This is much worse.

For the guests, Kristijan Jakic (calf), Philipp Max (muscle), and Hrvoje Smolcic (knee) appear to be out for the foreseeable future due to injury. The rest of the players are available for selection. Randal Kolo Muani, who has scored 21 goals and dished out 15 assists in all competitions this season, will remain the center forward for Frankfurt, with Mario Gotze and Daichi Kamada providing attacking support. Djibril Sow and Sebastian Rode are anticipated to hold down the fort in midfield, and goalkeeper Kevin Trapp is anticipated to keep his spot in the starting lineup.

In addition to struggling this year, Hoffenheim has something to prove this weekend. Both sides are now on equal footing, and this match may end in a draw or win for the away side.
