Borussia Monchengladbach vs Union Berlin Prediction: BTTS but a win for the away team

Borussia Monchengladbach faces an excellent Union Berlin team in a crucial encounter at Borussia Park on Sunday as the Bundesliga resumes with a new round of games this weekend. In the Bundesliga rankings, Borussia Monchengladbach is presently in 10th position and has not played well this year. The hosts have something to prove this weekend after Eintracht Frankfurt held them to a 1-1 draw in their last match.

Union Berlin is now in third position on the Bundesliga table and has performed above expectations this season. The away team will need to step it up in this game after playing to a 1-1 draw with VfL Bochum last week to enable the team to gain a Champion League qualification spot. 

The away team has the advantage although goals are expected from both teams.

Borussia Monchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt battled to a draw, with the home team coming from behind in the 83rd minute to snag a point after an early goal from Eintracht Frankfurt. With one victory and three draws since their most recent loss, the home team enters Sunday's match on a four-game unbeaten streak as a result of that tie.

With the victory against Wolfsburg two weeks ago, Borussia Monchengladbach continued their remarkable home success of five straight Bundesliga victories at Borussia-Park without suffering a loss.

The triumph over Bayern Munich in February is still fresh in the minds of the home fans. At home, Borussia Monchengladbach has lost only one of their last eight home league games while winning four and drawing three. There is no denying that Borussia Monchengladbach has had a wildly erratic season thus far, with nine wins, nine ties, and ten losses in the league, but recent results indicate a good finish to the year.

The injuries sustained by Sanches, Jantschke, and  Nico appear to keep them out of this weekend's game. Sickness may also prevent Alassane Plea from playing this weekend. Elvedi is also unavailable due to injury.

Given that Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich lead Union Berlin by eight and seven points, respectively, one could say that Union Berlin's improbable title campaign is already gone considering the number of games left to play. Nevertheless, the away side will battle to the last end.

Union Berlin was promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2019 but the team can qualify for Champions League football next season. Union Berlin had an impressive start to the current season, winning 13 of their first 20 Bundesliga games, but they have slowed down recently, winning only two of their previous eight league games.

Following a four-game losing streak in February and March, Union defeated Eintracht Frankfurt and Stuttgart before falling to Borussia Dortmund, and last weekend they drew with relegation-threatened VfL Bochum. Union has shown they have what it takes to end the season on a strong note, despite the team's recent inconsistency. 

The red card to Paul Jaeckel in the game against Bochum will keep him out of this week's game. Andras Schafer is suffering from a foot ailment.

Union Berlin will be hoping to stay with the top two clubs in the Bundesliga, but the visitors will lose further ground this weekend if Borussia Monchengladbach extends their home winning streak to six games.

Union Berlin has been in great shape this year and will be motivated to lock up a spot in the top four. The Berliners have a strong team at their disposal and have performed admirably throughout their season. Although Borussia Monchengladbach has not played at their best this season, they have found their groove recently. However, Union Berlin is currently the superior team and should be able to prevail in this match.
