Uganda vs Botswana Prediction: A draw will satisfy the two sides

Mandela National Stadium will host the World Cup Qualifier encounter between Uganda and Botswana. These sides have the same points: three from their first two matches. Which side wins this one?

Uganda were held to a 2-2 draw by Ghana in their last game in March and will look for a winning result here. In that game, this team had to come from behind twice to avoid defeat in a friendly encounter, with Stephen Mukwala and Muhammad Shaban scoring for this side. However, this team’s last five games have ended in two wins, two defeats and one draw. 

In their World Cup qualifying campaign, Uganda has played twice, losing to Guinea 2-1 and then defeating Somalia 0-1. 

Botswana are on an unbeaten run of four games, where they drew three and won one. In their last matches, this team played Mozambique, Rwanda, and Burundi, and they drew in each encounter. In that run of games, Botswana scored just one goal, while two encounters ended goalless. 

In their World Cup qualifying campaign, Botswana lost to Mozambique but did well in securing a win over Guinea. In the standings, Botswana is seated 3rd in the standings, just three points behind first and second-placed Algeria and Guinea.

Uganda are favorites here, which is understandable since they play at home. On the other hand, Botswana has been tough to beat, and with their incredible form at this stage of the competition, we can expect more from them. However, while the two teams have average total performance, it is tough to take a winner. Regardless, I do not foresee a goalless encounter, and a draw should be a good option for the two sides at full-time.
