England vs Italy Prediction: Italy has remained one step behind England in recent years

But then, they suffered a 0:2 defeat at the hands of the Nigerians. In the third round, the team beat the Dominicans with a score of 3:0, finishing second in Group D.

The Italian national team has been a step behind England in recent years. The Lions were triumphant at the 2017 World Cup, with the Blues winning the bronze medals. At Euro 2022, when the teams played close to their current squads, the English came in first place, while the Italians stopped in the semi-finals. Moreover, in their last five head-to-head encounters, the Red and Whites have won three times and drawn twice. At the World Cup 2023, Ian Foster's side has slightly better results than their rivals, so they are favorites to win the upcoming game.

England and Italy have been playing great offensively recently. In the last ten games, the Lions have scored a combined total of 22 goals (2.20 average per game), and the Blues have scored 18 goals in the previous nine games (2.00 average per game). Both figures are very respectable, especially over such a long distance. On top of that, the English and Italians have traditionally been productive, scoring 19 goals (3.80 average per game) in five previous encounters, with goals being exchanged on every occasion.
