Swansea suffered their first loss of the 2023-24 season against West Bromwich Albion last Saturday. The final score could have been worse for Swansea at the Hawthorns. Goals from Semi Ajayi and John Swift, along with a Carl Rushworth own goal, put Swansea three goals behind after 65 minutes. However, efforts from Harry Darling and Nathan Wood narrowed the gap. After the departure of Russell Martin in the offseason, Michael Duff is now in charge of leading a capable group of players towards a top-six finish. Striker Joel Piroe will be a crucial player in the team's promotion campaign, having scored 41 goals in the past two Championship seasons since joining from PSV Eindhoven in July 2021. The departure of Ryan Manning left Swansea without a senior left-back for the first two matches, but the addition of Nathan Tjoe-A-On has given Duff more defensive options.
Swansea City Predicted Lineup
Rushworth; Darling, Cabango, Wood; Ashby, Fulton, Grimes, Patino, Key; Yates, Piroe
Coventry City form
Coventry bounced back from their consecutive losses to Leicester City and AFC Wimbledon with a convincing victory over Middlesbrough at the Coventry Building Society Arena last Saturday. Despite losing Viktor Gyokeres to Sporting Lisbon this summer, striker Matt Godden, who has always been dependable, scored the opening goal against Boro. With Gyokeres gone, there will be higher expectations on Godden to deliver. Haji Wright, who came off the bench in the last match, scored his first goal for Coventry and has shown glimpses of his potential to trouble defenses in the Championship. Ellis Simms, who recently joined from Everton, is still goalless for Coventry, but he will be given time to adjust to his new club. Coventry has failed to win in their previous eight meetings with Swansea, so fans may not expect a lot when they face them in Wales on Saturday. However, it can be argued that the current Coventry team is better equipped to secure three points compared to their past unsuccessful attempts.
Coventry City Predicted Lineup
Wilson; Thomas, McFadzean, Latibeaudiere; Van Ewijk, Eccles, Sheaf, Dasilva, Palmer; Wright, Godden
