Burnley inflicted a 2-0 defeat on the team at Hillsborough, and a goalless match was played against Swansea City. Sheffield Wednesday will be eager to record their second successive away victory as the team recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Coventry City a few weeks ago for its first Championship victory of the season. With only three goals scored in five away matches, they regard Friday's game as the possibility to improve that record against Portsmouth, who have the worst defensive record in the Championship, conceding 23 goals in 11 matches. Positively, Sheffield Wednesday will draw motivation from their last game victory against Portsmouth. After all, the Owls have emerged victors in three of their last five encounters and have recorded a win away to Fratton Park when they defeated Portsmouth 1-0 earlier this year in March.
