After missing out on the playoffs in the 2022-23 season, Gary Rowett has faced the challenging task of motivating his squad, many of whom have remained at the club. They suffered three consecutive defeats to Bristol City, Reading, and Norwich City, conceding a total of eight goals in the process. This suggested that Millwall could be in for a difficult season. However, they have since accumulated four points from matches against Stoke City and Birmingham City. Their 1-0 victory over Stoke was their second win by that scoreline this season. While Millwall's attacking record remains poor, their defense is one of the best in the division. Three of the five goals they have conceded came in the 3-1 loss to Norwich. Rowett will be hoping that the recent signings of Allan Campbell and Ryan Longman will improve Millwall's attacking efforts.

Leeds also made some changes during the transfer window, bringing in Ilia Gruev, Glen Kamara, and Jaidon Anthony to replace Cody Drameh, Sam Greenwood, and Luis Sinisterra. It is too early to determine who made the better deals, but head coach Daniel Farke will be pleased to finally have a settled squad. Despite accumulating just six points from five games, Farke's team showed resilience by staging a dramatic 4-3 comeback win against Ipswich Town. They followed that with their first clean sheet of the season in a goalless draw against Sheffield Wednesday, although this result was seen as disappointing by their supporters.

Both teams have shown improvement in recent matches, making this a competitive contest that the home side will be confident in winning. However, despite Leeds being in a period of transition under Farke, we anticipate their superior attacking power to prevail at The Den.
