Fresh from a couple of successes in front of its own fans against Bristol City and Cardiff City, Derby's away dent continued when it narrowly lost to promotion favorites, Sheffield United. Given plenty of opportunities to score through both Kayden Jackson and Nathaniel Mendez-Laing, the Rams could not make the most of them, and Gustavo Hamer sealed the issue for Sheffield United with a thumping free kick in the latter half.
At present, Derby County is 10th in the Championship following three wins and as many losses in its initial six matches with nine points in bag. It remains five points clear from the relegation zone in the Championship, held by Sheffield Wednesday. Pride Park has continued to be a fortress for the team, as it has been on four consecutive winning outings at home in the Championship and EFL Cup, toppling Middlesbrough and Bristol City and Cardiff.
Even as Paul Warne was celebrating his 400th professional management game at Bramall Lane last weekend, he still faces a challenge to win over some of the Derby fans to believe that this manager will lead the team to success on the pitch.
Expected Derby County XI
Zetterstrom; Nyambe, Nelson, Cashin, Ward; Goudmijn, Osborn, Adams; Jackson, Mendez-Laing, Yates
Norwich City form
Norwich City returned home to Carrow Road after a series of away games, including an EFL Cup loss to Crystal Palace and a close loss against Swansea City in the Championship. Still, they were at full tilt against Watford and, thanks to loanee Callum Doyle, gathered their first away win of the campaign and their third victory in four Championship outings. Ryan Andrews leveled things out for Watford, though, before Borja Sainz, Marcelino Nunez, and Ben Chrisene wrapped up the match.
Under new boss Johannes Hoff Thorup, things have continued tough for Norwich over the season to so far. They are looking at a better performance this season than their last season where they placed sixth. They are currently sitting on the 11th position in the league. Their next outing will be to Derby County, and Norwich's last six games against Derby in the Championship have seen them come out on top only once, but they last won their last visit to Pride Park back in April 2021.
Predicted Starting Lineup for Norwich City
Gunn; Fisher, Duffy, Doyle, Cordoba; Nunez, McLean; Schwartau, Crnac, Sainz; Sargent
Derby County vs Norwich City Expert Tips
Derby remains buoyant at Pride Park, and their good run is simply keeping them safe from relegation this season. We see no reason to expect it to change on Saturday against Norwich. Meanwhile, Norwich plays rather poorly on the road, and this should make for another bruising encounter for them.
