After losing four consecutive matches, Blackpool got a much-needed win in their last game at Bloomfield Road with a goal from Jerry Yates just two minutes into the game. Following the departure of veteran boss Mick McCarthy, interim manager Stephen Dobbie faces a daunting challenge to keep the team in the Championship. Blackpool is currently in 23rd place in the standings, four points behind 21st-place Cardiff City, who have played one less game. All of Blackpool's four wins in 2023 have come at their home ground, including notable victories against Nottingham Forest (4-1 in the FA Cup) and Queens Park Rangers (6-1 in March). However, Blackpool has the joint-worst defensive record in the league, along with QPR, having conceded 67 goals in 42 matches and keeping only nine clean sheets all season.
Blackpool Predicted lineup
Grimshaw; Lyons, Nelson, Thorniley, Husband; Bowler, Fiorini, Anderson; Poveda, Yates, Rogers
West Bromwich Albion Form
On Saturday afternoon, West Brom secured their first away victory since January when they defeated Stoke at the bet365 Stadium. Despite Stoke having little left to play for, the home side initially took the lead through Jacob Brown in the first half. However, West Brom managed to claim an important win thanks to an unexpected brace from midfielder Jayson Molumby, much to the delight of the visiting supporters. The Baggies have now accumulated 60 points, putting them in 11th place in the Championship standings, just three points behind sixth-placed Blackburn Rovers. Nevertheless, there are four teams ahead of West Brom in the hunt for a playoff spot, so they will likely need to go on a winning run if they hope to secure a top-six finish. West Brom has not managed to win in their last three visits to Bloomfield Road, having played against Blackpool in the Premier League, the FA Cup, and the Championship over the past 12 years.
West Bromwich Albion possible lineup
Palmer; Furlong, Ajayi, Pieters, Townsend; Molumby, Chalobah, Wallace, Swift, Grant; Thomas-Asante
Blackpool vs West Bromwich Albion Expert tips
Blackpool's morale will be high after securing a win over relegation rivals Wigan, but they will face a more challenging opponent in West Brom despite their recent injury struggles. While Blackpool will aim to build on their win, they will face a resurgent West Brom team that has gone unbeaten in six of their last seven matches. We expect the away side to win this game with less than 2.5 goals scored in the face-off.
