Comoros vs Zimbabwe Prediction: A draw would satisfy the two teams

On day 2 of the COSAFA Cup, Comoros will play Zimbabwe at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. Heading into this game, the two teams will face each other for the first time since 2019. How will this game unfold?

Comoros are coming off a 0-2 win over Chad, and they will hope for their luck in this game. In that World Cup qualifying encounter, Comoros settled for a goalless draw at the end of halftime. Still, goals from Myziane Maolida and El Fardou Ben in the second half were good enough to secure maximum points for this side. In recent matches, Comoros have lost just one, coming against Madagascar in a 2-1 encounter, while they also picked up a draw with Angola in a game that ended goalless. In the meantime, Comoros defeated Cape Verde, Central Africa Republic, Ghana and Uganda in other encounters.

Zimbabwe will come in as a slight favorite in this encounter, but their recent form has been disappointing. The last time out in the World Cup Qualification stage, Zimbabwe lost to South Africa 3-1 and Lesotho 0-2. However, their friendly encounter with Kenya ended in a 1-3 defeat in March. However, a look at prior encounters to that run of defeats shows that Zimbabwe defeated Zambia on penalties in a friendly encounter. At the same time, they played to draws with Botswana, Rwanda, and Nigeria. 

Zimbabwe and Comoros have met three times with two encounters ending in victories for Zimbabwe. However, their second game ended goalless, with Comoros failing to score in each encounter, while Zimbabwe scored four. 

Comoros are the better team on paper looking at their level of play and competitiveness in recent games. However, Zimbabwe have had more luck in this fixture and come into this game as favorites. In the meantime, I expect more from Comoros, who have proven themselves over months, but Zimbabwe can not be written off either. All indications in this game look like a draw, and a 1-1 scoreline is a good option.
