Comoros vs Zambia Prediction: We expect Comoros to start well here against the defending champions

On Tuesday, Zambia will square off against Comoros in the final COSAFA Cup group game at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium. The Coelacanths of Comoros are hoping to play their first knockout game since 2019 against the defending champions Zambia. 

The Coelacanths of Comoros have won once and lost a game since the start of this campaign. Comoros suffered a defeat in their opening game but made some adjustments as they won by two goals against ten men Kenya. 

Comoros managed just three points in their group last season, and it was against Seychelles. Comoros scored three times and conceded five goals to finish third in Group A. Comoros were a quarter-finalist in 2019 and will be confident of overachieving this season. 

They ranked 130th for the first time in the FIFA rankings, and they have won twice and lost four times in the last six COSAFA games.

The six-time COSAFA winners head into this match on the back of another defeat against Zimbabwe. The opening game ended in a (0-2) defeat against Kenya and repeating this same result against Zimbabwe. It was a poor performance by the defending champions, who saw red in both matches. 

They're one of the most successful teams in the history of the tournament. Zambia enjoyed a great outing in the 2023 edition when they defeated Lesotho in the finals. They have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the competition.

They are ranked the 90th best national team in the world according to FIFA and have picked up twelve points from a possible fifteen in the last five COSAFA matches.

Both teams have met three times, once in the COSAFA tournament and two AFCON matches, a game ending in a stalemate and two wins for Zambia. 

Zambia have been disappointing in this tournament, and they’ll have to try again next season. They have received a red card apiece in both games, which might affect them against a more determined Comoros team. This game won’t be cagey as Zambia have a lot to play for here; bet on over 1.5 goals for 1.61.
