Young Africans vs Al Ahly Prediction: The Yanga Boys stand a better chance here

Young Africans will face off against one of the best teams in the competition, Al Ahly, at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Saturday. The Red Devils are not a novice to the popular stadium and even played there against Simba last month. They’ll be setting their sight on the maximum points after their poor performance in their league recently, while the hosts can’t afford to lose back-to-back matches.

The Yanga Boys began their journey with a total humbling against CR Belouizdad away from home. Young Africans conceded three times as they left Algeria with nothing.

After years of trying, Young Africans reached the finals of the CAF Confederation Cup last season. Unfortunately, they lost based on away goal rule as USM Alger were crowned champions.

Young Africans have been in immense form this season, with two defeats and twelve wins in their last fourteen matches in all competitions. One of the wins included their (1-5) thrashing of arch-rival Simba SC.

Young Africans have not made their mark in this competition, with a group stage finish since 1998.

The Red Devils had a decent start in this tournament, defeating Medeama SC (3-0) on their ground. After finding it very hard to break the opposition's defence at the break, Al Ahly scored three times in the second off to secure the maximum point.

Al Ahly have been prevalent in the Egyptian Premier League, winning a record forty-three titles, and have also enjoyed success on the continental stage, winning the CAF Champions League ten times. Al Ahly head here after being knocked out by Mamelodi Sundowns in the AFL but quickly bounced back with two wins and a draw in their domestic league.

Al Ahly are the present champions of the CAF Competition but must be careful against the home side who can be very difficult at times.

Over the previous four meetings, Young Africans have won once while Al Ahly have recorded two wins and a game ending in a stalemate. Young Africans are a top team and also the CAF Confederation Cup runner-up last season. I’m sure they’d have watched the game between Simba and Al Ahly at the Benjamin Mkapa stadium a few weeks ago and think they stand a chance. Of course, the reigning champions will be determined to exert dominance over the host, but we think Young Africans stand a better chance here; bet on a home win in either half for 2.10.

We expect both teams to get a goal apiece for 1.86.

This game will produce more than two goals for 2.07.
