Vitória vs São Paulo Prediction: Vitória seeks its first victory

Things aren't easy for Vitória, who, despite its name, has yet to win a game in the Brasileirão and has now lost to Botafogo in the Copa do Brasil. Even with a game in hand, one point from three games is worrying, as the Baianos were promoted from the Série B and are probably anxious to get their first league win. The upcoming match with São Paulo will not be a cakewalk either.

Léo Condé, the Lion's coach, made tactical changes to his team for the game against Botafogo. After conceding three goals to Cruzeiro, Condé structured his backline with three defenders when the team had the ball possession, unfolding it into a 5-3-2 when defending. The Baianos did well in the first half but dropped off in the second. The 1-0 defeat in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil third round left everything open for the second match. Vitória needs points against São Paulo, but I don't think a draw will improve the players' confidence, as they need to feel that they are good enough to beat teams from the elite of Brazilian football.

The Tricolor Paulista also played for the Copa do Brazil and won 3-1 away to Águia de Marabá, who competes in the Série D. São Paulo even started losing to the Paraenses, who played for an hour with ten players, but managed to turn the result around. Zubeldía has got off to a good start and, so far, has managed two wins and a draw in his three games in charge of the Paulistas. Playing at the Barradão isn't easy, but São Paulo can exploit the Baianos' insecurity.

São Paulo has improved since the new coach arrived and seems to have overcome the rough phase it was going through. The Paulistas hope to win to climb up the table, where they sit in 14th place. Vitória still hasn't won but has a game in hand. The Lion needs points to gain confidence and is a tough team to beat at the Barradão. The odds for a Double Chance in favor of the home team are attractive, so that's my bet. It will be a surprise if the Baianos win, but a draw is possible.
