Birmingham City vs Wrexham Prediction: Wrexham sit at the top

Birmingham City at the St. Andrew's Stadium is all set to entertain Wrexham in Gameweek six of the English League One. Wrexham has been in a comfortable position on top. Who will take the lead through the end of the game?

Birmingham, relegated last season, is one of the teams many believe to be promotion favorites to the second tier, especially after making substantial investments in strengthening the squad in the recent transfer window, among them the record re-signing of Jay Stansfield in League One. Birmingham got off to a fine start in its first season in the third tier since 1991-92, dropping only two points out of four in its opening league matches. They had been held to a draw by Reading in their opener before taking three in a row against Wycombe Wanderers, Leyton Orient, and Wigan Athletic. In the latest league encounter against Wigan, Alfie May opened the scoring but a 91st-minute debut goal for the Birmingham team's Scott Wright was enough to seal it for his team. The team has also had games in EFL Trophy games, with Walsall having drawn and lost a penalty shootout.

Wrexham hopes to stake promotion following back-to-back promotions and a return to two-tier football after 42 years. They started the season in thunderous form, winning four and drawing one of five league matches so far. Wrexham picked up a win in Wycombe Wanderers and had an away goalless draw in Bolton Wanderers before going on to successive wins against Reading, Peterborough United, and Shrewsbury Town. Their previous EFL Trophy, a 2-1 win over Salford City, took their unbeaten games to five.

The two teams come into the game with some injury concerns, which means both will miss a few of their traditional starting eleven. Birmingham will not have Ethan Laird, Luke Harris, Dion Sanderson, Lee Buchanan, and Keshi Anderson all available to play, and Wrexham could also be without Anthony Forde and George Evans. However, George Dobson and Lee are likely to return so that game should be fine. Stansfield, who joined the side from Fulham, is likely to feature for the team, like May, as starting line. Marriott and Palmer of Wrexham are likely to lead the attack as the Wrexham side cannot be under estimated either.
