Algeria vs Togo Prediction: The Desert Foxes must not underestimate their opponent

Algeria will continue their AFCON qualifying campaign against a strong Togo at the 19 May 1956 Stadium on Thursday. The Desert Foxes have won back-to-back games in this group, and they’ll be keen to pick up another win on their ground against a formidable opponent tomorrow.

The Desert Foxes, who had a disappointing outing in the concluded AFCON tournament, have started their qualifying round on high with back-to-back wins against Equatorial Guinea and Liberia. They are yet to concede in this tournament and have scored five times. More recently, they amassed all the points against Liberia on the road as they occupy the top spot on the standings. 

Algeria moved five places up in the latest FIFA rankings following their recent run. They have won three over their last five games, conceding six times while scoring eleven goals.

The Desert Foxes must be at their best to amass all the points, as the guests won’t give up without a fight.

The Sparrowhawks remain unbeaten in this tournament, although they are yet to win a game. After their (1-1) stalemate on their ground against Liberia, Togo settled for a (2-2) stalemate on the road to Equatorial Guinea. Togo are blessed with quite some attacking players but are shaky at the back. They have now gone five games without a win despite creating loads of chances and scoring quite a number of goals. 

Togo have managed just a win over their previous eight games in all competitions. Togo picked up eight points from a combined eighteen in the last qualifying round. They wrapped up their journey in third place and were unfortunately eliminated. 

Over their previous four meetings, Algeria have won three while Togo have managed one win. Algeria already named a strong squad for this round, with Mahrez, Aouar, and Benraham training. At the same time, the guests will strive to make it out of the group, and they’ll be pleased with a point here. They have also invited the same players for their next two games, as Kevin Denkey, Karim Dermane and Etienne are expected to start upfront.
