It's been four years since Team Liquid won the LCS regional title and participated in MSI. Things went another way this year: the five-time LCS champions qualified for the international tournament as the best team in the North American region. Team Liquid, who had come close several times but always failed, finally ended the crisis. However, the level of LCS teams is still far below what it would take to have faith in Liquid.
Last season's LCS summer split rookie is a Liquid Academy-grown talent who was promoted to the first team and has been a revelation. He did well in the group stage, but really came into his own in the playoffs, despite playing the most matches in the latter stages. In the playoffs, he had the highest KDA average at 5.9, as well as the highest averages in kills and assists at 6.5 and 7.8, respectively. His ultra-aggressive style of play was a lot of fun to watch in the LCS, and it will be interesting to see how other teams fare at MSI.
Top Esports
Some top players from Top Esports had trouble getting through the play-in rounds. LOUD from Brazil was giving it their all against the second team from China, while Fnatic managed to pull ahead on the map. This is the first time Top Esports has competed at MSI, so it's understandable that they might struggle to adjust to the big stage. However, MSI won't forgive mistakes.
With three new players on the roster, Top Esports has been a formidable force since the start of this season. One of their most promising new additions is former top player JDG, and another is Worlds 2021 champion Tian meiko Ye, who used to play for EDG. Despite his recent team change, meiko has maintained his status as a top-notch support player. In the LPL Spring Split playoffs, he ranked third in KDA average and awesome assists among support players, which helped maintain his GPM at a respectable level. His kill percentage is also quite impressive, ranking fourth. It's worth noting that Meiko played the second-highest number of games among all support players during the playoffs. This lineup of talented players is a testament to the potential of Top Esports in the upcoming tournament.
In the home arena, Top Esports looks like a strong contender for the tournament, especially since they've already played a few games on this stage in the play-in stage.

The Chinese team is the favorite, but they won't just have an easy walk as the American region is weak.
