Things are not as bleak as predicted for OG after the first day of competition. Draws against Blacklist International and Team Spirit brought important points for Ceb's squad, but the battle for the playoffs is still ahead.
The OG squad were considered one of the main favourites for one of the two spots in the European qualification for TI13. However, before the top set semi-final against Entity, the team played against Immersion instead of Ceb. At the end of the day, OG announced that Ceb might miss the next series as he was due to become a father, and the absence of one of the current roster players for more than two games could lead to the team's disqualification.
Ceb did show up for the game, but predictably, the OG lacked cohesion in one of their most important series. Numerous individual and team errors led to a 0:2 defeat to NAVI Junior, which was the biggest sensation in WEU qualifications.
HEROIC
The South American team continues its victorious march through the Riyadh Masters tournament without knowing defeat. Having started at the play-in stage, K1 squad became the best team of Group B, winning 8 out of 10 cards played in BO2 confrontations. Many thought they were lucky to be in the group, but Heroic continued to surprise in the group stage.
The first to suffer at the hands of Heroic players were Gaimin Gladiators, which was extremely unexpected. Yes, the South Americans could count on a draw, but to calmly outplay one of the favourites of the whole tournament is a more sensational result. Then there was a fight with LGD Gaming, which ended in a draw. The game with OG is extremely important to improve their playoff prospects.
